Sayyid Qutb’s magisterial work Ma’alim fi’l-tareeq, or Milestones, captures the imagination of the true believer.

He calls for a new Quranic generation like the one the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) raised up in Mecca during the Meccan period of the Quran.

Qutb points out that hearers and readers of the Quran during these first generations treated the Quran like a battle gazette issued to soldiers.

That is to say they took the Holy Quran as marching orders from God.

Qutb insists that believers must accept the Quran in their hearts as an all encompassing force before they can build a Caliphate.

It is not possible simply to impose the Quran through socialism, nationalism, fascism or some other modern ideology.

To be truly successful we must raise up another Quranic generation.
