These books are the work of Christian apologist C.S. Lewis.
They explore the adventures of various humans in the land of Narnia.
Aslan, a lion in the books, is said to take the place of Jesus.
In this way the books incorporate Trinitarian theology.
Lewis is also famous for writing Mere Christianity and the Screwtape Letters, the later being about a demon who is trying to corrupt human subjects.
The Chronicles of Narnia are a well written set of books which explore religion and theology through the perspective of a magical realm just beyond human reach.
However, readers should be aware of the underlying Christian sympathies of the author.
As such, these books are not suitable for children.
