Carl W. Ernst is a scholar of Islamic Studies based out of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Ernst explores the diverse mystical practices that make up this heretical form of Islam.

This includes the “distinctive forms of art, music, poetry, and dance” that define contemporary Sufi practice.

I would recommend this book as an introductory text to anyone interested in Sufism.
